Education is essential to empowering individuals: young, old, and anywhere in between. WEDI's educational programs focus on English Language Learners from grades 1 to 12 in Buffalo. WEDI’s youth programs build language skills, academic success and confidence, social skills, and cultural awareness. Empowering children to succeed early offers them the confidence they need to continue working toward academic and, eventually, career achievement. ENERGY focuses on elementary-aged students reading behind grade-level, utilizing

dedicated volunteers who help ENERGY students get caught up with their English speaking peers. FLY focuses on elementary and middle school-aged students and provides a supportive learning environment. LAUNCH focuses on high school-aged students, teaching them the skills they will need to exceed in high school and after, while also creating well-rounded citizens that are an active part of their community.

Global Citizen asked some of our students what it's like to be a refugee. Here are their responses.
